Designed as part of the Objects for the Age of Obama exhibition that showcased in Salone Internazionale del Mobile—Satellite in Milan, Italy, and Making Modern in Chicago, IL.

This nightstand deals with the concept of Honesty and the paradox of “full transparency” in government. With its translucent structure the nightstand’s contents are visible from all angles. Right in the center, however, is a contrasting opaque container that provides space for concealment of private bedside items. The project embodies President Obama’s strides toward a transparent administration and the inherent conflict in maintaining classified or politically sensitive information.
